Black Rock Whisky Bar set to open in Bristol on Monday 21st October

The Shoreditch based whisky bar, Black Rock, which has won the UK’s Best Specialist Bar for the last 3 years, is opening in Bristol’s city on Marsh Street next week on Monday 21st of October.

Thomas Aske and Tristan Stephenson, the founders of Black Rock, together have spent 40 years within hospitality, from bar-tending to even writing the award-winning series of The Curious Bartender books.

What to expect from Black Rock Bristol

Whisky drinkers will find a large whisky drinks list, unique bar snacks (haggis sausage rolls with Black Rock brown sauce, and a 216 year old oak tree that’s been hollowed out to host Black Rock’s house aged whisky cocktail.

There’s a grand total of over 300 whiskies from across the world, with the menu divided into six different flavour profiles – sweet, smoke, spice, fruit, fragrant and balanced.

Alongside neat whisky each profile, each will have its own cocktail and highball.

It’s the the biggest whisky collection in Bristol, but you’ll non whisky fans can find a selection of local craft beers on tap and in cans.

Speaking about the upcoming opening founder Thomas Aske said:

“Whisky often gets a reputation as being a little intimidating, so we’re hoping to be able to challenge those preconceptions and introduce both existing whisky fans and those who are brand new to it to something they haven’t tried before.”

“Our ambition with Black Rock has always been to make whisky more accessible to everyone, and we felt Bristol was absolutely the right place to expand our offering as it has one of the most progressive bar scenes in the country that we can’t wait to become a part of!”

Black Rock’s ground floor bar, which has space for 60 people, will open to the public on Monday 21st October.
