Who Is Running For MP In Bristol West?

Find out who your candidates for MP are in the Bristol West election

In the run up to the election we’ll be writing about the various Bristol constituencies to give you a flavour of the candidates running in your area.

Bristol West is one of the most interesting constituencies across the UK and let alone Bristol. It contains the eclectic mix of university graduates, independent traders, Stokes Croft hipsters, Cliftonares, Bishopston Mums & St. Pauls. This BBC report gives a flavour of the fascinating battle in this key seat.

Bristol West MP Candidates:

Current MP is the Liberal Democrat Stephen Williams.

Labour’s choice is Thangam Debbonaire.

Green’s have Darren Hall.

Conservatives can vote for Claire Hiscott.

UKIP have fielded a candidate as well: Christine Forrester doesn’t have her own website…. or social media,  but UKIP have a very high quality website fresh from the 1990s for you to scroll through.

So who’s going to win? Well this a difficult one. As the Spectator notes, within Bristol West it’s difficult for parties to know how the electorate will vote because lots of voters in the city center are in large blocks of flats, making it difficult to canvass.

At the time of asking, no polling has been conducted but you can always rely on the betting companies to give a good indication.

William Hill’s current odds are:

Lib Dems are the likely favourites with odds of 10/11.

Labour are in second at 9/4.

Greens in third at 3/1.

Whilst the Conservatives are a whopping 100/1.

Whatever you do, just make sure you, use your voice and vote. Turn out at the last election was 66.9%, barely above the national average. If you’re not a fan of any of these parties, just spoil your ballot, i.e. write ‘these parties are rubbish’ instead. Polling stations are open from 7am to 10pm so there’s no excuse not to get up you lazy lazy person you.
