I’ve been on a quest to find Bristol’s best roast dinner for a while now. The places listed below are my personal recommendations and hopefully cater for a few different options, whether you’re looking for a cosy pub roast with mates, or a more glamorous setting.
Price: £9.95 for main, £13.50 for 2 courses or £14.95 for 3 courses
Why is it a good Sunday roast? Crazy good value, great presentation and a warm welcome, no wonder they won Best Roast at the 2019 Observer Food Monthly Awards (plus countless other awards)!
They’re booked up till 2023 but they take walk-ins during good weather so you can sit outside, and there’s always a chance of cancellation.

Why is it a good Sunday roast? A simple but high quality menu in a relaxed and cosy pub, we love the oxtail stuffed onions on the side!

Why is it a good Sunday roast? Why is it a good Sunday roast? If you want a more cheffy roast supercharged with flavour, this is the one! Choose from wasabi-glazed pork, jerusalem artichoke with XO sauce or umami short rib.

Why is it a good Sunday roast? Family and dog-friendly, a relaxed atmosphere and good portions.
Price: £12.95, or three courses for £19.95
Why is it a good Sunday roast? Great value, tasty grub, family friendly and plenty of space.

Why is it a good Sunday roast? Generous portions in a proper cosy pub, perfect for a chilled Sunday session.
Price: £14 – £16
Why is it a good Sunday roast? Lots of space (and a huge riverside terrace for warmer months), family-friendly, good selection of menu options, big portions.
Price: £13 – £15
Why is it a good Sunday roast? Nice setting, chilled atmosphere, great presentation and some very tasty veggie & vegan options alongside meatier choices.
Price: £12 – £14 (collection only, no dining in at the moment)
Why is it a good Sunday roast? Great quality meat and produce, and it’s something a bit different (the roast is cooked in a wood fired oven and over charcoal).
Price: £17 – £19
Why is it a good Sunday roast? Very luxurious, tasty trimmings, plus there’s a Chateaubriand option!
Price: £34, for two to share
Why is it a good Sunday roast? A glamorous roast with a Spanish twist, including Chorizo Yorkshire’s and Manchego cauli cheese!
