13 of Bristol’s best roasts

I’ve been on a quest to find Bristol’s best roast dinner for a while now.

The places listed below are my personal recommendations, but more top roasts tips can be found at Bristol Sunday Roast Club.

1. The Bank Tavern, City Centre

Price: £9.95 for main, £13.50 for 2 courses or £14.95 for 3 courses

Why is it a good Sunday roast? Crazy good value, great presentation and a warm welcome

2. The Green Man, Kingsdown

Price: £12

Why is it a good Sunday roast? Portion size, great value, lots of veg and an epic gin selection (Over 120 at the last count!)

3. Yurt Lush, Temple Meads

Price:  £13 – £18.50

Why is it a good Sunday roast? It’s a cosy & quirky venue and the food is top quality.

4. The Lock Up, Redfield

Price: £10

Why is it a good Sunday roast? Family-friendly, good value, nice atmosphere   

5. The Old Bookshop, Bedminster

Price: £12.50 – £16.50

Why is it a good Sunday roast? Top quality cooking, lush presentation. Dog-friendly too!

6. The Hillgrove, Kingsdown

Price: £9 or £8.50 for veggie

Why is it a good Sunday roast? One for late roasts fans (serve from 4pm), good ales, homely, loadsa gravy

7. The Punchbowl, Old Market

Price: £12.50 – £14.50

Why is it a good Sunday roast? Generous portions, good range of options (meat & veggie), great atmosphere.

8. The Love Inn, Stokes Croft

Price: £10

Why is it a good Sunday roast? Packed full of flavour, huge portions, great value.

9. The Gallimaufry, Bishopston

Price: £12-14

Why is it a good Sunday roast? Nice setting, chilled atmosphere, great presentation

10. The Cauldron, St Werburghs

Price: £14 – £18

Why is it a good Sunday roast? Quirky venue, great quality produce and it’s something a bit different (the roast is cooked in a wood fired oven and over charcoal

11. Pasture, Redcliffe

Price:  £13.50 – £16.95

Why is it a good Sunday roast? Very luxurious, very tasty trimmings, Chateaubriand option!

12. Chris & Jo’s Kitchen, St Michaels hill

Price: £12.95

Why is it a good Sunday roast? Homely, big portions, great price.

13. 1766 Bar and Kitchen

Price: £13.50-15.95

Why is it a good Sunday roast? Looks great, taest even better, stunning venue.
