This Fishponds pub are opening up with table service and are taking bookings via their FB, email or telephone on 0117 965 7759.

We are opening at noon on the 4th and working on the assumption you want to come back to something resembling a normal pub and not a bank. So the only plastic screens you will see are on the visors the staff will be wearing.

We’ve kept busy over the past few months decorating, repairing, maintaining and generally updating everything we could – although cabin fever set in after 2 months and the purple paint came out.

We have the space so we have the tables a good distance apart, about 2m, and the closest part of any two tables is side-to-side or back-to-back. Inside we are booking the tables, message us on FB, email or give us a call – if you want to turn up and we have space we will allocate you a table but bookings will always take priority. We have also moved all the comfy sofas upstairs to the function room, along with some of the smaller tables, where you may prefer the more relaxed atmosphere.

Outside it will be first come first served, one person come into the bar and the staff will agree a table with you. Just remember if it rains there will unlikely to be enough space inside – however we are in the process of installing some covers out front and they will hopefully be in place by Saturday.

What all this means is table service for both food and drink and no hanging around propping up the bar, anyway I’ve just had it stripped back and re-varnished so need to avoid greasy fingerprints to keep it looking shiny. By all means pop up and let us know an order, one person only from a table, if we have not passed for a while. Card is preferred, but will never turn down cash and if I can programme in some 200+ drinks by Saturday we should have an app that will allow you to order and pay from your table.

It shouldn’t need saying, but I don’t need the paperwork – so if you feel unwell with anything Covid related or something else entirely please don’t come down until you are on the mend.

For those in need of relief the downstairs toilets are for those seated downstairs and those upstairs in the function room should use the upstairs toilets (max two at a time). Who doesn’t understand the concept of a queue, and for those that have forgot, they will, I’m sure, be provided with a ‘polite’ reminder by those who do.

And for those parents bringing the young ones with them, please be aware all the toys and games have been removed and the outside play area is not available. Children have to sit at the table with you at all times.

If that lot wasn’t enough we are also booking for Sunday lunch. It will be bookings only, so get in touch early, and the maximum table size is 8. Each booking will be for 2 hours and we will fit you in either downstairs or up depending on table availability – anyone who cannot manage the stairs please let us know at time of booking so we can make sure we accommodate you.

I’m sure I haven’t covered half of what I should so send in the questions and we will answer as best we can. All we ask is that you respect our staff, we are all working through the unknown and as long as we are all able to keep some humour in any situation that arises I’m sure we can come out the other side.
