Clifton Observatory Museum & Giant's Cave

The historic Clifton Observatory has stood overlooking Avon Gorge and the Clifton Suspension Bridge for over 250 years and has a rich and vibrant story. Originally a windmill, the building was leased by William West who transformed it into an observatory and installed the incredible Camera Obscura in the top of the tower. West also excavated tunnel access to the mythical Giant's Cave. Both remain at the observatory today, along with a museum detailing more of the observatory's history, the 360 cafe, and a rooftop terrace from which visitors can appreciate panoramic views of Bristol.
