Most people see wrestling in one of 2 ways;

The old heyday of British wrestling during the World of Sport era, the time of Big Daddy, Giant Haystacks and grannies hitting the bad guys (heels) with their hand bags as they walked to the ring.

Or those slightly younger who associate it with WWE – Steve Austin, The Rock, John Cena etc.

But something quite amazing has happened in Britain in the last 5 years – a resurgence of a new style of British wrestling with companies like RevPro, Progress and of course the Scottish company: Insane Championship Wrestling.

Since bursting onto the wider British scene with the airing of the great 2014 BBC documentary – Insane Fight Club, ICW have gone from strength to strength and become one of the most must see wrestling companies in Britain.

For the uninitiated, ICW probably best resembles a blend of ECW – the hardcore promotion that revolutionised wrestling in the 1990s and WWE. But it’s much more that. It features a Scottish man who has somehow become a phenomenon in the world of professional wrestling: Grado.

Grado comes out to Madonna’s ‘Like A Prayer’ and regularly manages to get thousands of Glaswegians to belt out the chorus during his entrance. It’s one of the best things ever and you need to take a look:

This weekend, ICW come to Bristol for their Road To Fear & Loathing Tour at Motion. As well as Grado there’ll also be the ICW World Heavyweight Champion Wolfgang, Drew Galloway, Trent Seven, Joe Coffey, ICW Undisputed Tag Team Champions Polo Promotions, the New Age Kliq, and many more.
