Bristol business community unites over table tennis this winter

Battle of the Paddle is a platform for Bristol businesses to connect over a friendly game of table tennis.

On January 25th they are starting their third Battle of the Paddle Series, which has gone from strength to strength since the inaugural event in November 2014.

Business teams, consisting of 2 players, can register for the Winter Series via their website. They will be placed in one large pool, with the top 16 teams going through to a knockout stage. Although a winner is crowned at end, for them its about getting people of any skill level playing table tennis and enjoying themselves.

For the Winter Series they are arranging two events a month at various Bristol venues, all indoors of course!

As the nights remain dark and the weather is gloomy employees can break free from their offices over these winter evenings (and lunchtimes for you keen beans) and get playing table tennis in a friendly and relaxed environment. Battle of the Paddle is open to all Bristol business professionals, of any skill level.

They’re urging Bristol businesses to get their employees involved in Battle of the Paddle, not only will it give them kudos but table tennis increases concentration and alertness, stimulates brain function and develops tactical thinking.

The idea for Battle of the Paddle came about when the companies they work for, Blackstar Solutions and PeopleGoal began sponsoring the Bristol City Council Ping table tennis table (outside the YHA). Frequenting the table most lunchtimes, it became clear we weren’t the only table tennis enthusiasts in the area. It seemed the perfect opportunity to engage with other businesses, away from the standard (sometimes rigid) networking events. And so the idea, Battle of the Paddle, was hatched.

“Being involved with Battle of the Paddle was a lot of fun” … “it was great to chat to other local businesses taking part in the league” Andy Beresford from Home Leisure Direct.

Battle of the Paddle are endorsement by Table Tennis England who love the idea of bringing Bristol business people together over a game of table tennis.

Table tennis is the type of game that’s open to everyone and we want to encourage Bristol professionals to bond with their colleagues, engage with other Bristol businesses and have fun in the process.

Avoid the doom and gloom this winter and join them as businesses battle for table tennis glory.
