Bristol Council Ridiculed For Tiny Yellow Lines

Are these the smallest double yellow lines in the UK?

Part of the Residents’ Parking Zone in Clifton East, these double yellow lines on Leigh Road are amazingly less than a metre long.  Bristol City Council defended the tiny lines and released this statement:

“We are ensuring residents with driveways and garages have enough space to get in and out of them; if, instead of being prevented from gaining access by motorists parking too close to or even over the entrance, they can actually use their driveways and garages it will create more space on the street for those without them.”

Anti-RPZ campaigner Michael Owen called the tiny double yellow lines ‘over the top’, highlighting that the space isn’t even wide enough for a Smart car to park, with this fantastic picture of a toy Stig car.

The ridiculous size of the yellow lines was shown by Keith Rodgerson’s brilliant photo with his Gromit ‘Jacques Cousteau’ taking centre stage.
