There’s A Bristol Cook Book Being Released

Get tasty with this new Bristol cook book

Set for release on September 29th, The Bristol Cook Book brings together all the very best of the city’s burgeoning food and drink scene; from a fantastic array of independent restaurants, to cafés, pubs, delis, producers and suppliers.

The book will be the 15th in the series of regional ‘Get Stuck In’ guides by Meze Publishing, who were recently crowned Best Newcomer at the Independent Publishing Awards.

As the home city of MasterChef finalist and television regular Dean Edwards, Bristol’s contemporary food scene is certainly seen to be not only flourishing, but also a perceptible influence upon that of the UK as a whole. Writing the book’s foreword, he expresses pride and passion for the potential of this foodie hub:

“I’m a fiercely proud Bristolian so to be featured in The Bristol Cook Book is a real honour. The array of talent showcased in this book will leave your mouths watering and make sure Bristol continues to become a foodie destination for years to come.”

The Bristol-born chef also offers his delicious recipe for belly of pork with scrumpy and apple sauce: edible encouragement for readers to fire up their own ovens at home.

The Bristol Cook Book strives to capture and promote the region’s vibrant, diverse approach to catering, with each chapter focusing on creative, delicious yet unique food and the stories behind each foodie business.

You will find entries from burger-pushing venues such as Three Brothers and Burger Joint, award-winning eateries such as Lido who was crowned ‘Best Alfresco’ at the Bristol Good Food awards two years in a row, all the way to traditional delicatessens including The Mall Deli and Better Food Deli; it’s clear that Bristol is all-encompassing when it comes to food.

Charitable organisation Incredible Edible Bristol likewise contributes to The Bristol Cook Book. Here founder Sara Venn praises the prosperity of the county’s independent food scene, being one of the many who excitedly awaits the book’s release:

“We at Incredible Edible Bristol are thrilled to be included in this exciting book along with some of our fabulous Bristol chefs and restaurants. Food is at the heart of Bristol and to be have the opportunity of being included in a book talking of that is exciting and humbling, it certainly has made us feel accepted as part of that scene.”

Ah Toots and Pinkmans are amongst many who adorn the pages with sugary treats, the former showcasing their formula for a distinctive yet delicious orange and Earl Grey cake. Here the team praise the region’s prosperous food and drink culture:

“We may be a little biased but we believe Bristol has one of the best food scenes across the country and certainly love being a part of it. It’s great to have this book to showcase a good wedge of it!”

And to complement these delicious delicacies, The Bristol Cook Book also serves its readers a broad array of drink inspiration. Independent wine and spirit merchant Corks of Cotham and Corks of North St. created an unmissable wine pairing guide for every dish in the book!

With amazing recipes, dedicated suppliers and an abundance of passionate cooks, chefs, bakers, producers and suppliers, it is clear that the people of Bristol really have something to brag about.

The Bristol Cook Book retails at just £14.95 and will be available in all of the businesses featured in the book from September 29th. It will also be sold in select local gift shops, book shops including Waterstones, and online at www.amazon.co.uk.
