25 Bristol Businesses Providing Free School Meals To Children
The Bristol businesses working to end child food poverty
A proposal to provide free meals for disadvantaged children in England until Easter 2021 was rejected by MPs this week.
However, inspired by Marcus Rashford MBE, many businesses and local councils around the UK are stepping up to offer free meals to stop children going hungry during half term.
We’re pleased to see Bristol City Council join the campaign, along with many amazing Bristol businesses.
Below are the Bristol businesses who are offering free school meals for children during half term. This list will be continually updated:
1. Urban Tandoor: 13 Small St, Bristol BS1 1DE
Providing free curries, rice and poppadoms to those who need it, collection from 3pm, Monday to Friday.

2. Shake, Wrap & Roll: 234 Cheltenham Rd, Bishopston, Bristol BS6 5QU
Providing free wraps for kids, 12pm till 4pm Monday to Friday. Message on Instagram to book.
3. The Gallimaufry: 26-28 Gloucester Rd, Bishopston, Bristol BS7 8AL
Providing kids lunch, with drink and snack, collection or delivery Monday to Friday. Call 07909512197 or message on Facebook or Instagram to book.
4. Totterdown Gym: Wells Rd, Totterdown, Bristol BS4 2BS
Between Monday the 26th Oct and Friday 30th Oct they are providing any school age child with a packed lunch. Needs to be prebooked by calling 0117 3009100 or messaging on Instagram.
5. Pearly King Cake: 17 Chandos Rd, Bristol
From next week until Christmas they will be serving up homemade soup & bread in the shop weds – sat 11-2 with all profits going to Trussell Trust. If you are a Mum/Dad/Carer who is going without, then your kids can be fed soup and bread for free.
6. Brentry & Henbury Children’s Centre: Brentry Ln, Bristol BS10 6RG
Providing a free packed lunch during half term for struggling parents.
7. Chandos Deli: 6 Princess Victoria St, Clifton, Bristol BS8 4BP
Making available some simple, delicious free lunches all of next week at their Bristol branches.
Can pre-book by emailing info@chandosdeli.com with how many lunch bags you need, when, and from which branch..
8. Wokyo Ko: Unit 7, CARGO, Wapping Wharf, Gaol Ferry Steps, Bristol BS1 6WP
From Monday – Friday this week they will be offering a free kids meal to any child that needs it. Their team will put together a braised pork rice Woky bowl with Peking sauce for you to collect confidentially between 12-2. Email hello@wokyko.com with a name and they will let you know which location to collect from.
9. Hugo’s Greengrocer: 73 North St, Bedminster, Bristol BS3 1ES
From next weeks half term and then onto the Christmas holidays (unless anything changes) they are offering lunch box style bags with some fruit and nice bits of veg for those in need of their school lunches. They will be on offer from 10.30am on Monday with around 30 a day available.
10. Channings Hotel: 20 Pembroke Road, BS8 3BB
Free kids meal to take away daily between 12-9. Message on Facebook to book.
11. Crispins Fish and Chips: 42 Sandy Park Rd, Brislington, BS4 3PH
Between Monday the 26th Oct and Thursday 29th October Crispins will be providing any school age child with a hot meal. Message on Facebook to book.
12. Clocktower Fish Bar: 84 Regent St, Kingswood, Bristol BS15 8HU
Available between Tuesday 27th – Saturday 31st October, between 12 & 2pm only and children must be present.
13. Daisys Coffee Shop: 17 Flaxpits Ln, Winterbourne, Bristol BS36 1JY
If your children need a sandwich/crisps/yoghurt, just call 01454 771817 and ask for a free school meal and they will sort it.
14. Fill Good Pantry: 42 High St, Portishead, Bristol BS20 6EL
Offering a free food pack to any local family that needs a bit of extra help during half term. Drop them a Facebook message or email info@fillgoodpantry.com so they can get a bag ready for collection. No questions asked.
15. Gurt Wings: 20 Pembroke Road, BS8 3BB
Any child under the age of 16 can drop in @buoystreetfood The Harbourside Market in Bristol this Thursday and they will feed you a Gurt lunchbox on us, no questions asked.
16. Coates House: The Queens Head, 91 High St, Nailsea, Bristol BS48 1AW
Offering free packed lunch to anybody who needs one between Monday and Friday this week. Email info@coateshouse.co.uk with how many lunches you require and they will have them ready for you in discreet takeaway bags for around 11am.
The meals will include a sandwich, snack, piece of fruit and a drink.
17. Old Bristolians Hockey Club: 1 Longwood Ln, Long Ashton, Bristol BS8 3TQ
They’ve raised nearly £3k over the weekend to provide meals (delivered) to anyone in need. They Hockey Club are already set to deliver 200 meals this week but have capacity for a lot more and can deliver to North Somerset or South Glos too. They’re are based in Failand. 18. Ruby Jeans Coffee Shop: Pembroke Rd, Shirehampton, Bristol, BS11 9SA
They’ll be making up free lunch boxes from Monday-Friday. These will include a kids sandwich and piece of fruit.If you or anyone you know could do with these, come in and get some- no questions asked.
19. Churchill Inn: Bristol Rd, Winscombe BS25 5NL
Churchill Inn will be offering a free packed lunch every day to children living in Churchill and Langford entitled to free school meals. To claim your free packed lunch all you need to do is come into the Churchill Inn from 12 noon each day and collect it or give them a ring on 01934 852757 and they can deliver it to you.
20. Cafe on the Square: 136 Shirehampton Rd, Sea Mills, Bristol BS9 2DY
Cafe on the Square will be providing a FREE packed lunch to any and all children who would normally of had one in school. Available every day next week, just come to the back door and ask.
21. Pho: 28 Clare St, Bristol BS1 1YA
The restaurant group have pledged to give out 6,000 packed lunches around the UK. Head to the restaurant to receive one discreetly.
22. The Stable Cafe: 3-6 Wadham St, Weston-super-Mare BS23 1JY
The Stable Cafe and Thestableweston have prepared over 16,000 packed lunches since covid-19 struck. If you need help, you can get in touch here.

23. Bishopston Supper Club: 405 Gloucester Rd, Bristol, BS7 8TS
They’re supplying kids’ packed lunches for families needing a little help this half term. They will be vegetarian meals to heat up at home or a sandwich, with fruit & a dessert/snack. Pick up between 12-2 Mon-Fri but try and message so they know how many to prepare.
24. The Social Bar & Cafe: 130 Cheltenham Rd, Cotham, Bristol BS6 5RW
The Social want to do their bit for families, so they’re offering free meals for kids during the half-term break! Call on them 01179244500 or message them on social media to arrange. ♥️
25. Imagine That Coffee: Hanover Place, Spike Island, Bristol, BS1 6UH
Imagine That will be offering free packed lunches between 12-2pm Wednesday, Thursday & Friday this week, consisting of sandwiches, fresh fruit, and crisps
You can either text 07926477106 or DM them in confidence to place an order, with collection from their pitch on Hanover Place, by Banksy’s “Girl With The Pierced Eardrum”
