Bristol photos

We asked Jess Siggers from IGersBristol to select her favourite featured photos of Bristol from February 2020.

Instagrammers Bristol (@igersbristol) is a community of over twenty eight thousand Instagrammers & photographers who bloody love the city of Bristol, and we promote this through our Instagram page.

It’s run by three Bristolians; myself Jess (@porthjess), Ben (@mrbenadams) & Rich (@richimal_bristol).

We work with the city’s tourist board, uni, museums, restaurants, bars & landmarks to promote both them & the work of the community through daily Photos Of The Day & meet-ups/Instameets.

It’s free, and all you have to do is follow us on Instagram, tag your photos of Bristol with #igersBristol, and hopefully come along to a meet this year.

1)  Bryn Webley / @brynwebley

Boom! Into February with a Bryn Webley banger. Due to Greta Thunberg’s visit to Bristol last month we were tagged in approximately 2,475 images of Jody’s now famous mural off North Street, but this one stood out due its fresh angle.

2)  Przemek Szczodry / @pshamek

We were blessed with a few great sunrises during February and Przemek captured this stunning one from Redcliffe Bascule Bridge on his way to work one morning.

3) Martin Waters / @scrumpyphotos

Wouldn’t be right if we didn’t feature Clifton Suspension Bridge somewhere in our top ten, seeing as it still seems to be the average Bristolian photographer’s favourite subject. This one by Martin was my favourite bridge pic this month, love the light trails along the Portway.

4) Pau Piqué /

Possibly the loveliest photo of Blaise Castle I’ve seen. The depth of field is so beautiful and love the tones. Well done Pau!

5) Andrew Cleaver / @brisvadar

As (fellow IGers Bristol moderator) Rich mentioned when choosing this one for Photo Of The Day, there’s definitely quite a big trend towards golden tones on Instagram at the moment and this Baltic Wharf swan shot by Andrew was up there with the best of them last month.

6) Chris Hill / @chrshill

Turn your head forty five degrees left from the above swan and this will be your view! Although probably not quite as smooth as this lovely shot by Chris.

7) Tom Whittaker / @tomwhittaker27

We had a lot of rain last month but that doesn’t mean the great photos dried up! Loved this rainy view of the city from the BRI by Tom.

8) Jim Lampard / @jim.lampard

Occasionally we’re tagged in photos of the viaduct at Pensford and it always makes us so happy when people remember we don’t just feature central Bristol! Thought the colours in this one from Jim were stunning.

9) Edd Cope / @eddcope

A big event for photographers in Bristol during February was the amazing Bristol Light Festival and talented Edd grabbed this gorgeous shot of Tine Bech’s ‘Pink Enchantment’ at Castle Bridge on the first night. Can’t wait for it to return next year!

10) Chloe / @chloelizabeth9319

And the other most popular Bristol photography subject in February… ending where we began, with Greta, and this incredible photo of the College Green crowds from Chloe. Whatever your opinion is, this looks to be one of our most popular Photos Of The Day in the six years I’ve been running IGers Bristol. And that’s what matters to us.
